Here’s my review of the movie Kaabil:
Rating: 3 out of 5
Story: The story begins with the lead
actors Hrithik Roshan (Rohan) and Yami Gautam (Supriya), who are blind, meeting
at a restaurant which is said to be their first date. Rohan works as a dubbing
artist and Yami is a piano teacher. They both don’t have plans to get married
as they feel that two incomplete people cannot complete each other. The story
then progresses and Supriya gets to know Rohan as a man who can protect her and
they both have a bright future together. They get married and life gives them a
new chance to be happy with each other. However, their happiness is short-lived
and an evil man Ronit Roy (Amit) who eyes Supriya’s beauty and he and his
friend physically assault her. Rohan and Supriya try to seek justice but being
blind and helpless, they don’t succeed. The next day, Supriya commits suicide
and Rohan gets to know from Amit’s brother, Madhavrao Shellar, (Ronit Roy) that
she had been raped the second time. Rohan loses his control and warns the
police department that he’ll seek revenge but they won’t be able to stop him.
The story of revenge then begins.
Direction : The Director of this movie
is Sanjay Gupta. Sanjay has done an excellent job. The story is similar to other
revenge stories where the female lead is physically assaulted and the husband
seeks revenge but here the male lead being blind brings in a lot of WOW moments
as it proves that being disabled doesn’t make a person helpless but he is more
powerful that abled humans.
Star Performance : The star cast of
this movie consists Hrithik Roshan, Yami Gautam, Rohit Roy, Ronit Roy and
Narendra Jha. Hrithik had played many good roles in his career but I can say that
the role of Rohan Bhatnagar has been one of his career’s best roles. Yami too
matched his acting ability to an extent and their chemistry was fab. Rohit Roy
was quite disappointing as his role was storng but he did not try to put an
effort and look evil compared to his real-life brother Ronit Roy who had a
short role but a powerful one in which he excelled. I haven’t seen Narendra Jha’s
performance earlier but he too did a great job as an inspector and was
convincing in playing a cop.
Music : The music of this movie is
given by Rajesh Roshan. This kind of a movie did not need any songs but there
are still a few of them. The songs like “Kaabil Hoon” and “Mon Amour” were
pleasant ones.
Plus Point : Being a revenge drama, the movie has done a good
job. The movie had many new elements that made us watch how a blind man can
seek revenge and this was presented very well by the director and actor.
Minus Point : The only minus point of
the movie is that the story was short and it did not have any suspense as to
how the blind man finds out the culprits or how do the enemies find out that
the blind man is seeking revenge. The story was quite predictable and had no
elements that made me feel shocked or surprised at any moment.
All In One : All in one, the movie is a
good one-time watch and Hrithik Roshan and Ronit Roy put in a lot of effort
into their roles that makes it a total entertainer. The chemistry of Hrithik
and Yami too has come out so beautifully and they playing such a role for the
first time convincingly made their performance so believable. I give it a total
of three stars (2 for the revenge element and 1 for Hrithik’s performance).
