SAP Project #MyInternTheory

"Don't count your chickens before they hatch" This is a famous saying which has a deep meaning. This applies to me as well as I used to keep considering myself an employee as I was already placed in my company but my professor reminded me that without training, I would not become a permanent employee so soon. This is how my internship program started.

It was my final year and we had to submit a project for my company where I was placed in. The days when I used to everyday travel three hours to the company where I and my three friends used to travel for 3 hours every week for the project as we had been placed in the same company. We were working in a new technology SAP and to get knowledge of this technology itself took us 2 months. A manager of the company guided us a lot and helped us in completing this project. Initially, it was very tough and I never thought I would be able to learn it compared to my other friends who were already getting a hold about the project and its requirements. I started learning about it after college and while completing my studies and this is how I managed to start working on the project.

We started making Excel files as temporary data which had to be combined at a later stage. We divided our work and each one of us made 5 Excel files with 200 entries of people, their contact number, email ID, State and City. When the files were ready, we were taugt how to integrate them in the SAP system and get the final result. We were making many mistakes while doing this and since we had only 1 day in a week, it took us a long time to learn individually how to get the result. When we finally managed to do it on our own, we showed the manager our project dummy file and he immediately approved the same.

Finally, I have an advice for the new interns. I would just like to tell them that these years are really very tough and it just requires one to be dedicated to their studies and have a better concentration in classes as it helps in the preparation of exams. 4-5 months is the max amount of time we get to prepare and it's our test which needs to be done with ease.

This was the first stage of my internship program that helped me as an intern and made me more confident in taking up projects and completing them before time. The SAP project made me life an office life before hand though we did not get a stipend for the job.

The toughest day of my life

Here in this blog, I want to share one of the toughest phase of my internship. Since it was a roller-coaster ride for me, my memories too have been good as well as bad and some have been torturing for me.

That day still haunts me as I remember it. It was my first month of internship in my office and I had to submit a project along with another intern who had joined just few days before me. We had to submit a word document as well with all the written matter and take a printout of the same and present it before the manager who was our trainer as well. We were given all the necessary information before hand and the guidelines that we had to follow. Everything was clear to us but since we were both very new, we were confused of how to go about it and we did not want to worry the trainer as he was busy in his work. We were struggling with it as we had no guidance and I took a project from the database as a reference. We started working from home as well as the time was short and our project matter too was not ready. We tried different codes to get our results but we dint manage to get the final result. It was just 2 days left for our project and my friend called me up that she got a part of the code right. I was excited as we still had a day but I was tensed if I could complete it all by my own. It was the toughest day of my life. I tried different codes and finally one worked and gave me my final result. It was 3:30 a.m. that day and I had no time to get a print out of the program.

I reached the office and told my friend this good news and we still had to get a print out done which would be after we made some final changes. We had to then attend a training program which was a part of our internship and it lasted for 2 hours. After our training program got over we did the same and I saved my program in my hard drive (pen drive). I went to the washroom and the PD fell inside the washroom and made me go crazy. I got a peon to get it out but I was scared if it would work. It fortunately worked and we took a print out immediately and submitted our project.

It was one of the worst experiences of my life and I hope it never happens anytime in future where at the end, I need to run about with my work.

My Mowgli Memory

Why is Jungle Book my favorite cartoon:

Mowgli has been my most favorite character among all cartoons and what's unique about this cartoon is that it shows a young boy among different animals and his struggle to find his identity among them. It was something that attracted me to watch this cartoon among my other favorites like "Tom and Jerry", "Scooby Doobie Doo" and "The Mask". I remember few facts about this cartoon and the song "Jungle Jungle baat chali hai pata chala hai...Chaddi pehenke phool khila hai phool khila hai" was my most favorite songs as it was cute and innocent. I remmeber singing this song all the time while being a school kid and my mom used to stop me from singing it due to the lyrics. The song is so loving that till today I remember it even though it has been almost two decades. I also remember asking my mom what's the meaning of the song and she used to laugh at my question. I had a game too of Jungle Book and I used to keep playing it all the time till it had become my addiction. It was one of my most favorite games like Alladin.

Watching the cartoon:

My school used to leave at 5:00 p.m. and that was the time I couldn't catch up with any of my cartoons and hence before leaving for school at around 11:00 a.m., I used  to catch few episodes of Mowgli where I used to put the song on loud and cheer for him. As he used to fight with Sher Khan, I used to keep saying "Go Mowgli, you can do it" and I used to get completely involved with his character. When the TV used to be off, I used to be stubborn about having my breakfast and lunch and my mom knew that these cartoons only can make me have lunch. Hence she used to put Jungle Book cartoon keep feeding me with the food as my eyes were glued to my TV screen.

A memory:

One such episode I remember about Jungle Book is when Mowgli feels low and asks his mom that he isn't worth anything but his mom gives him courage and the next day while he gets prepared for a competition with another wolf, he remembers her words and uses his weapon to win the competition. That's something I remember among all the episodes.

My three favorite characters:

Mowgli: I loved the character Mowgli as he was so innocent and relatable that I used to live his character as he used to keep running about in the jungle and fighting with Sher Khan.

Sher Khan: I used to also love Sher Khan's character even though it was a negative one as his voice was so manly and I don't know why but I felt he too liked Mowgli to some extent.

Bagheera: The best thing about this cartoon is the friendship of Bagheera and Mowgli and the support of his parent wolves who raised him up. Bagheera was very wise and sharp and he used to always give Mowgli tips of how to fight with Sher Khan. If I remember, he was once hurt too and Mowgli looked after him.

The movie:

I am quite excited to watch the move Jungle Book that's going to release on 6th April and it will refresh all my memories of watching this cartoon. I again feel like the same child who used to sit before my TV and smile while watching the cartoon. It's a feeling that cannot be expressed in words. When I heard about the trailer, I soon started surfing the internet to watch it and it brought happy tears to my eyes when I again heard the song and saw Mowgli with his friends.
