FirstLove -- Which oils are preferred for babies?

I've been hearing many positives and negatives about baby oil brands that are available in the market and hence when I researched, I found that people can also use their own home made baby oil which is not only safe to use but also very useful.

1. Mustard oil: Earlier when there were no brands available in the market with regards to baby oils, women used to make use of mustard oil for the baby's massage. Mustard oil used to be heated and mixed with garlic cloves along with methi seeds. Mustard oil makes the baby's bones strong while garlic helps the immune system. When the baby has any stomach pain of body pain, a little oil is rubbed on the stomach or the area that's paining and the pain decreases instantly. The smell as well helps the baby to get good sleep and hence it has been the most favorable oil for many parents. It is preferred to make the oil warm before massaging the baby so that it can work effectively on the baby's body and soothe the pain.

2. Coconut oil: The best and most preferred oil during the summer season is coconut oil. Babies usually love the smell of coconut oil and when coconut oil is massaged gently on the body, it helps in making the skin more soft and reduces the dryness and rashes that are formed on the skin when the baby is a newborn baby. Coconut oil helps in leaving a cooling effect on the baby's body as well.

3. Almond oil: Almond oil can be used as a replacement of mustard oil in case the baby doesn't like the smell of mustard but many don't prefer using almond oil as it is quite expensive. It does have the same effect as mustard oil and it makes the baby's bones strong and healthy.

4. Branded oils: Johnsons oil and Dabur oil are some of the famous brands that are used for new born babies and it is preferred if one tests the products on the skin before using it on babies. Dabur oil has many nutritional values as well and it prevents rashes and does not leave the skin greasy after being massaged on the baby's body.

5. Avoid making use of ghee or turmeric powder which is generally preferred for babies. It can have adverse effects on the baby's skin and hence instead of ghee, one can use milk instead while washing the baby's body. For massaging, olive oil or coconut oil is more preferable.
